‘In Detective Conan,Shinichi Kudo (Conan Edogawa) and Kid the Phantom Thief (Kaito Kuroba) have formed a compelling ‘fated rivals’ relationship. On the surface, it is a showdown between a genius detective and a dazzling thief. Each of Kid the Phantom Thief's meticulously planned magical crimes becomes a stage for Conan to showcase his deductive skills. However, their bond goes far beyond a simple cat-and-mouse game. Conan admires Kid the Phantom Thief's intelligence and abilities, while Kid the Phantom Thief acknowledges Conan as the only ‘detective’ who can see through him. Their confrontations often reveal a mutual respect for each other as equals. When third parties are in danger, especially when innocent people or those important to the other are threatened, the two form a subtle understanding and even assist each other. Kid the Phantom Thief has provided crucial rescue or information on multiple occasions when Conan (or Ran) was in danger.
